Mindset Expert Ivan Petarnichki Reveals the Mental Shift Behind Breakthrough Client Attraction Strategy for Coaches

Client attraction is a mental game

client attraction

While personal and business coaching is a booming $1-billion-plus industry and continues to grow, many coaches continue to struggle with attracting a steady stream of paying clients.

The International Coaching Federation reported an estimated 53,300 coaches worldwide in 2011, with about 92% of these listed as “active.” Yet, while the industry continues to grow, the median coaching income ranges have remained stagnant, ranging from just $27,100 to $73,100 annually. Only a few coaches make more than that; most are stuck in the lower end of the earning scale because they struggle with getting clients.

Some experts believe the problem is all in their head.

“Over the last decade, the most common problem coaches have shared with me is that they love coaching and helping people, but they hate promoting their services,” says Ivan Petarnichki, an NLP certified coach, mindset mastery expert, and creator of Mental Edge Mastery system. Petarnichki has over 30 years of experience in experimental and applied psychology and is known as the “Mindset Coach for Coaches.”

“Both new and seasoned heart-based coaches inevitably find themselves struggling with client attraction, marketing and sales,” Petarnichki says. “They would rather cut their right arm off than to stand in front of a crowd of their ideal prospects and state the immense value they provide and the handsome fees they would love to charge.”

Perhaps this is why Tony Robbins, commonly viewed as the “godfather” of the coaching industry, says, “Success is 80% psychology and 20% strategy.” Based on that, Petarnichki believes what coaches need most is not a new marketing strategy, but a new mindset.

“Coaches are afraid of selling and resent asking for money,” Petarnichki says. “And this all boils down to low self-esteem, destructive inner talk, and false beliefs about money and spirituality.”

For those coaches who want to earn a superior income while delivering outstanding service to their clients, Petarnichki offers the following practical client attraction steps.

1. Choose a niche. “Define the particular group of people you want to serve,” says Petarnichki. “Write down at least three reasons why you want to serve these exact people and not someone else.”

2. State the outcomes. According to Petarnichki, most coaches are not certain about the value they provide and so they struggle to communicate it clearly. “Ask yourself what results people will get from working with you that they cannot get on their own,” he says. “And make sure you can actually deliver it.”

3. Describe the ideal client. Unlike traditional marketing demographics that describe consumers in terms of age, education, income or gender, Petarnichki recommends describing them by their personality. “List all the personal traits and characteristics of your ideal clients and the values that they cherish,” he says.

4. Check for alignment. In other words, “Make sure you possess all those qualities and personal traits, and that you share the values of the clients you wish to attract,” Petarnichki advises. “To attract your ideal clients, you must be your ideal client first. You must think, feel and behave as you would like your ideal client to think, feel and behave. Once you have achieved that, your perfect prospects will be magically drawn to you without any effort on your part.”

Coaches like Niklas Eller have experienced this transformation firsthand. Eller, who struggled with self-promotion, worked with Petarnichki and discovered that the struggle was a symptom of something deeper. “Ivan’s Mental Edge Mastery System is the best mindset system I have come across in the seven years I have studied personal development,” says Eller. “I highly recommend Ivan to anyone who wants a rapid mindset upgrade.”

Ditch The Elevator Pitch And Do This Instead!

In my marketing infancy years while I was trying to improve my elevator pitch I came across Lisa Nichols and her SNAAP technique. I loved it. I started using it and it has worked for me with great success through the years. So I would like to share it with you. As I know it is going to serve you just as well.

What does SNAAP stand for

elevator pitch

SNAAP is a networking method for creating a snippet of your services that is Concise, Clear, Quick and Powerful. It reverses the elevator pitch technique and emphasizes the benefits of your product instead of the process.

Here Are The Elements of SNAAP

elevator pitch reversed

1. Results vs. Process
The main goal of the technique is to start telling the results (What) the client is going to get instead of the process (How) he/she is going to get it. In the widespread approach of the elevator pitch you begin by introducing yourself, what you do and how you do it, not what your clients get as a result of working with you.

Reality check – people don’t care about you or what you do. They care only about what they will get from their interaction with you.

The only thing your prospects care about is, “What Is In It For Me?” (WIIFM)

SNAAP shifts the focus of the conversation from you to the person you are talking to.

2. Benefit based qualifier
The middle part is a statement which elegantly qualifies your ideal prospects based on a cumulative benefit.

3. Ends with a question
The question serves as a soft call to action. It does not force the action. It invites the other party to respond. The recommended question is, “Who do you know?”
This is an open question, which is impersonal and does not require making a decision and saying yes or No to an offer. It opens up a venue for for further discussion and referrals.

4. It is short
Ideally your “pitch” should be 60 seconds or less. When starting out you might stretch it to 120 seconds. But with practice and fine tuning you should be able to squeeze it in 30–60 seconds max. Because it is brief, clear and captivating, it delivers your message, grabs the attention of your prospects and wets their appetite for learning more.

Step by step guide on SNAAP implementation
To create your SNAAP answer the following questions in this order:
1. What is my name?
2. What do I do?
3. What are the benefits of what I do?
4. Who am I looking for…
5. Ask the question, “Who do you know?”

Here is my version of SNAAP:
My name is Ivan Petarnichki and I am a Mind Reset Wizard.

As a result of learning and implementing my Mental Edge Mastery System coaches get out of their own way and achieve their financial, personal and lifestyle goals faster than they thought possible.

I am looking for individuals who want to upgrade their self-identity and belief system in record time by utilizing avant-garde mind reset techniques that produce profound mental shifts in minutes.

Who do you know?

Note: Mentioning your name and what you do are not essential elements of SNAAP, but it is good to introduce yourself to an audience that has never heard of you. Keep that intro as short as possible. Just state your name and specialty. The bulk of your pitch should focuses on answering questions 3 and 4.

Conclusion
Whether you are at a networking event, writing a short pitch to a prospective client or updating your social media profile the SNAAP is a powerful tool that will help you ditch your elevator pitch and capture the attention and interest of potential customers. Iterate your SNAAP regularly. It is going to get better and better with time and practice.

Here is a video of Lisa Nichols explaining the SNAAP Technique with examples..

The Fail-proof Way To Stress-Less Success And How It Can Turbocharge Your Coaching Business

I love simplicity and strive for it in everything I do.

So I promise this is going to be a very short and straight to the point article.

No fluff and no BS. Just facts.

The main point I want to emphasize in this article is that Inner Conflicts, Limiting Believes and Negative Emotions are our intrinsic culprits for procrastination, failure and low self-esteem.

The single reason for lack of success

success

If you take a long and hard look at it your life will see that THERE IS ONLY ONE REASON YOU HAVE NOT ACHIEVED SUCCESS so far and have not reached  YOUR FINANCIAL AND LIFESTYLE GOALS and it is that you have not made all the necessary steps that would get you from where you are to your desired destination.

The three goal relation scenarios

There are only three possible scenarios in which you are in relation to the goal you have not achieved yet

  1. You have given up on the goal = you are moving away from it and you feel like a failure
  2. You are moving towards the goal but you are moving too slow, which causes you additional emotional turmoil
  3. You are stagnating, procrastinating and feeling stuck in relation to your goal = Not moving at all. You feel trapped and confused and do not know what to do and how to find a way out.

The three reasons for lack of action

There are just three reasons why you have not made the required steps:

  1. You have not specified exactly what you want, or
  2. You do not know how to get what you want, or
  3. You know exactly what you want and how to get it but there is something stopping you to execute the required actions in order to get it

What is preventing you from being a total success are the Inner Conflicts, Limiting Believes and Negative Emotions you experience when you think about your goal. With other words you associate either the goal or some of the steps you have to make to reach that goal with effort, struggle and pain.

The Three Beliefs

There are only 3 paramount limiting believes which are standing on the way of your success.

Beliefs = repetitive thoughts that you keep thinking and saying to yourself.

You believe one or more of the following:

1. Its impossible to achieve that goal

  • Not possible in general = You have never heard of, read about or seen someone who has achieved this goal
  • Not possible for you as a person = You believe you do not possess the required personal traits or faculties to achieve that goal and you do not see how you can get them
  • Not possible due to external factors (circumstances) = the economy, family dynamics, lack of finances, lack of resources, lack of time, etc.

    2. It is bad for you to reach that goal

  • It is dangerous = You believe you will have to turn into something I do not want to be in order to achieve this goal, I am going to get hurt in one way or another, my relationship will suffer,
  • It is going to be too hard = It requires too much effort, it is too time consuming, it is too expensive. You believe you don’t have the time, the energy or the money, or other resources required for the achievement of the goal.
  • There is a price attached to the achievement of this goal that you are not willing to pay = You will lose more than you will gain if you achieve this goal. For example: Your goal is to be a successful entrepreneur but you are afraid that you will be perceived as a greedy and sleazy salesmen by your prospects.

    3. You don’t deserve it

You are ashamed of yourself or of something you have thought or done and you believe you should be punished for your wrong decisions or deeds. Or you believe that you are not good enough for this goal, etc.

Take time to ponder the above stated beliefs and reasons for lack of success and make a list of all of them that resonate and seem to be applicable to your current mental and emotional state. Later on I will tell you how you can eliminate them in record time.

The Genesis of Emotions

Every time you think a thought it evokes one or more emotions. Every time you say to yourself one of the above beliefs you trigger the release of multitude of negative emotions and block the path to your success. These emotions make you feel bad. And we all do not want to feel bad, do we? Each emotion is related to one or more unpleasant and unwanted physical sensations. Many people do not realize this fact. Think about it. How do you distinguish between the emotions of sadness and fear for example? Well, when you feel sadness your get a lump in your throat and your eyes fill with tears, but when you feel fear your stomach gets tight, your hands shake and your knees tremble.

As you can see the only way to distinguish one emotion from another is the physical sensations we experience that are related to the emotion in question.

But when you experience a negative emotion and the related unpleasant physical sensations you immediately try to escape from these unwanted feelings. Your primal instinct of survival is triggered and the flight or fight response is initiated.

In nature when you feel such sensations you would run away or you will fight the threat. But in civilization you cannot run away or fight as moral and society imposed behavioral rules don’t allow you to do so. What you can do though is to start a different activity or think about something else in an attempt to numb the negative feelings you have. All of this happens subconsciously. You do this in order to survive and the survival instinct is way too strong to be overcome by conscious thinking. You may try to fight it for a while but in a long run it will always win. To your subconscious keeping you alive is a number one concern and a supreme priority.

So every time you have a negative feeling, emotion or repetitive thought when you think about your goal, the inner conflict between conscious desire and subconscious concern of safety and survival will prevent you from taking the necessary actions for the accomplishment of the goal, or it will keep you stuck and ultimately in time it will direct you away from your goal.

It is a well known fact in the Negotiations, Marketing and Sales that all decisions we make are made emotionally and then are rationalized and reasoned on a logical level.

An interesting study that confirms the above fact was made several years ago. Neuroscientist Antonio Damasio made a stunning discovery. He studied people with damage in the part of the brain where emotions are generated.. All of these people were not able to feel emotions. He observed that they seemed normal, except for one thing. They were unable to make decisions. They could describe what they should be doing in logical terms, yet they found it very difficult to make even simple decisions, such as what to eat. As they could not label their sensations of sight , smell, taste, touch and sound, they could not distinguish between good or bad. As everything in life, including making a decision, have pros and cons on both sides, they could not make a decisive choice. With no emotional way to decide, these test subjects were left stuck and unable to make a choice.

So at the point of decision, emotions are very important for choosing. In fact even with what we believe are logical decisions, the very point of choice is always based on emotions.

Achieving Goals Made Easy – a 4 step algorithm

How to get from starry-eyed dreaming to achieving goals fast

achieving goalsSo often in our day-to-day lives, in the topic of achieving goals, we’re overburdened with advice to “think positively.” From song’s lyrics to politician’s speeches to media commercials,  we’re told time and time again to look on the bright side, to be optimistic in the face of adversity, and to focus on our dreams. And whether we’re trying to motivate ourselves to lose weight, get a promotion at work, or run a marathon, the general message is the same: focusing on fulfilling our wishes will make them come true.

Psychologist Gabriele Oettingen draws on more than 20 years of research in the science of human motivation to explain where the conventional wisdom falls short. She has discovered that focusing on the obstacles to achieving goals could actually help us achieve them faster. Dreaming and visualizing aren’t all they are cracked up to be, and as it turns out, dreamers most often are not doers.

It is true that optimism can help us relieve immediate suffering and persevere during tough times, but just dreaming about the desired future actually makes people more frustrated and unhappy in the long run and decreases their chances of achieving goals. Oettingen’s research shows that the pleasure we gain from positive fantasies allows us to fulfill our wishes virtually and saps our energy to perform the work necessary for meeting challenges and achieving goals in real life.

The 4 steps to achieving goals:

Based on her groundbreaking scientific studies, Oettingen introduces a new approach to achieving goals. It combines visualizing our desires with  focusing on the obstacles that stand in our way. By experiencing our dreams in our minds while considering reality we can face our fears, make specific plans to overcome them, and increase energy to take action.

WOOP  (Wish – Outcome – Obstacles – Plan) .

1. Desire:  To increase your chances of achieving goals you must first determine your goals. Find something that you truly desire. Ask yourself, “What do I really want?”. It can be a big goal, like new years resolution to run a marathon or to loose specific number of pounds, to write a book, to start an online business, etc., or it may be something not so daring.

2. Result: Here’s where some positive thinking sneaks again. Keeping the goal in mind, ask yourself, “If my wish is fulfilled, what is the best possible outcome I am going to get out of it?” Often the outcome we really look for is a feeling. As you determine this outcome, you can imagine the outcome already achieved. And while imagining it you should fully immerse yourself in it. See and feel the goal achieved.

3. Obstacles:  The previous step is the place where most people usually stop the process and get stuck. After all dreaming feels nice. But dreaming alone won’t raise the odds of you achieving goals, there is still much work to do. Once you have allowed yourself some time to imagine how you will feel when your goal is achieved, bring your mind back to reality. Then ask yourself, “What is it in me that stops me to experience this dream?” Often the obstacle is an emotion, a belief or a  good old habit. In this step you should focus your mind on the hurdle.

4. Plan:  Once you have realized what the barrier is, you can find out what you need to do to overcome it. Make a plan that includes “if ………… then ………….”. Example: If X comes up I  will make Y to overcome it and to keep moving on the path to my goal.

After applying this method, people in Oettingen’s studies have become significantly more motivated to lose weigh, quit smoking , get better grades in school, negotiate more effectively in business situations and sustain fulfilling relationships.

Conclusion

Whether you are depressed, unhappy and struggling with serious problems or you just want to improve, discover, and explore new opportunities, this formula for achieving goals will increase your motivation and will help you boldly chart a new path ahead.

The only problem I see in this approach is that the inner conflicts of the individual, that prevent him from doing what is required to achieve his goals are not addressed. Even if one has faced the barriers standing on the way of his goal achievement, and has developed a plan for overcoming them, he still will be reluctant to take the necessary action if there are inner conflicts that subconsciously sabotage the realization of his dreams. Overcoming these inner conflicts is paramount to achieving goals in any area of one’s life.

Success Mindset – You can develop yours faster now

Develop The Success Mindset

Do you want to trade your life for anybody’s in America? Everybody has the desire to do something. But they don’t have what it takes to succeed. They don’t have the success mindset.

success mindset

They don’t know how to really completely complete the process of dedicating themselves and having the discipline to do it. The way you begin each day sets up the way you live each day. I mean the Spartan warriors said it so well: “Sweat more in training – bleed less in war”. And if you want to be literally undefeatable in business and literally unstoppable in life you really want to dial in your morning routine. I think a lot of people you know have said they’ll set these goals for themselves and when they don’t reach them then it’s discouraging. And sometimes they need somebody to push them through.

Success Mindset Rule #1

Don’t worry about things that you cannot control but the things that you can’t control.

That’s what you have to manifest. Because when the opportunity is given to you and you don’t step up to the plate and you’re not prepared who’s going to be disappointed every day? I want you to take action towards that and practice that role until you and the goal in the dream become one. To develop your success mindset you have to go from the I want the part to the I am the part. You don’t have to worry about what other people will say. You just have to keep your mind on your course. Those winds may blow fast and furious but if you know your path, if you know where you are going they will help push you towards the dreams. They will help you get the treasures that you have already decided you’re going after. But you have to look at a bigger picture too. You have to have belief in yourself. You have to have faith in yourself. Faith is not really just having understood that everything will be okay but faith is understanding that if things don’t go your way or if it doesn’t turn out the way you want to it’s still going to be okay. Every time you fail on a board or a mission next time around you get better at navigating the course in front of you because you learn from your previous experiences.

Success Mindset Rule #2

Embrace failure in order to learn as you move forwards your goal.

No matter what someone tells me I never allow them to limit my work. The best thing you can do to prove them wrong is to succeed.  The more you integrate your vision with your emotions and with your actions the more you will become the rule. The more you will become the person who sets goals and achieves goals. Focus on where you’re winning. Focus on what you’re grateful for. Rewire and re-code that natural tendency of your brain towards negativity bias. Achievement means moving forward and in order to move forward you must be motivated and inspired.

Success Mindset Rule #3

You must have dreams and goals that create ambition.

Good ambition, positive ambition, to be a good person you have to have ambition you have to try to do something good with your life. You have to try to get out of where you are today or make where you are a better place tomorrow. You have to do it or anything else is a waste of time and energy. If you want to be a player and a game changer and a world builder you really need to make a commitment to think to behave and show up in the world like very few people do. So make the decision right now to believe that you create all of your experiences because you do. Let’s start creating the ones you want by believing you can. Sounds a little strange but accepting this level of responsibility is uniquely and inevitably empowering. It means you can do change and become anything at all.

Success Mindset Rule #4

Everything worth doing in life is not easy.

Never allow anyone to talk you out of the dream the vision and the idea that God has sent you. And understand that for every level there’s another devil. You have to understand that it’s not going to be easy. People want no challenges. People want it done yesterday. But this is not how it works It is not how it is supposed to work. Nothing worth doing in life is easy. And that’s the beauty of building the success mindset. It is looking back on the road you have traveled, reflecting on the challenges you have overcome, knowing what you’ve gone through and appreciating how it has changed you. Otherwise, it’s literally like you’re going to a boring job. Honestly – if I can make it anybody else can make it.

Find out if you have what it takes to succeed fast!

Money Mindset – 8 strategies to win the game of money

money mindset The Money Mindset is what separates the rich from the poor. The topic of wealth, income, and making money is often viewed and discussed in a negative light. In our society, there is a fear of being labeled as greedy or hungry for money, but what must be understood is that money is a paramount part of freedom. I personally have experienced what it’s like to have nothing, to stress about paying my next bill, and to feel hopeless. I also know what it’s like to have plenty, and I’ve been fortunate enough to earn a great income as well. And I can tell you that having money is a lot more enjoyable and fulfilling, but most importantly having money gives you options.

The following erroneous believes that form a poor money mindset are quite widespread.

“Money is the root of all evil.”

“Rich people are greedy.”

“Money won’t make you happy.”

“You don’t want to be one of those rich people.”

“I don’t need money.”

Usually, the people who claim they don’t care about the money end up broke. What is wrong with getting wealthy? What is wrong with becoming a millionaire? What is wrong with focusing on making as much money as you need?  All entrepreneurs I know have goals of increasing their income. We all have the same 24 hours in a day, so the people that are wealthy must be doing something different with their time, then the poor people, don’t you think? They must have a different perspective about money, what it means and the way it’s earned?

Let me give you 8 strategic and straight to the point tips you can use right away to change your money mindset and catapult your income.

1. Do something different. We have all heard the saying “insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.” If you are not happy with your income, the first thing you should do is stop doing what you’ve been doing because what you are doing is what is creating your current dissatisfying reality.

You may not realize it right now, but you have the opportunity to completely change your story and direction overnight. No matter what your past is, you’re always just one decision away from making the right choice.

2. Do not let money define who you are. Your finances have nothing to do with your self-worth. Whether you have millions in the bank or you are in debt, your confidence should never waiver. If anything, when you are stressed your confidence needs a boost so that you get motivated to do something to resolve the stressful situation.

Being wealthy is a state of mind, and so is being broke. Your your way of thinking and your personal traits are what defines you, not your possessions.

3. Prioritize your profits. When you set up your daily schedule make sure you put the income producing activities first. 20 percent of all your activities will account for 80 percent of your income. Figure out what those are. Each day list the three things you need to do to create your desired income. And then make sure you give them priority to all the other activities you have scheduled for the day.

Constantly asking yourself if what you’re doing is profitable is a great habit to develop. Concentrate on doing what you should do versus what you feel like doing. Remember that impact drives income.

4. Put a higher value on your time. Time is your most valuable possession. It is more valuable than money. You can always make more money, but you can never make more time. It is possible to become twice as productive and make twice as much money in the same amount of time. There is nothing more profitable than time invested wisely. We all have the same 24 hours, and it’s what you do with them that counts.

5. Learn to say NO. Steve Jobs once said, “It’s what Apple said “no” to that ultimately made them successful.”

If you’re overloading yourself with too many tasks, this word will change your life. Vow to say “no” to everything that doesn’t help you create profit for you until you get the income that makes you feel confident and secure. Commit to focusing on income-producing activities versus tension-relieving activities.

6. Proximity determines power. Most poor people hang with other poor people and they usually stay poor, together. Associate with people that have the money mindset you admire, that inspire and motivate you to get out of your comfort zone. Reach out to those playing the game of life at a higher level than you.

We are social creatures. We become a lot like the people we spend the most time with. Their attitudes, their belief system and their ways of living are contagious. You can surround yourself with those who hold you accountable, or with the ones who let you off the hook. Choose wisely.

7. Dump the excuses.  Your excuses and your profits are inversely related. As the excuses go up, the profits go down. The best excuse makers have the worst bank accounts. The energy and time you spend on creating excuses are better invested in finding ways to accomplish your goals and discovering solutions to your problems. That is the only way to move your life forward. Excuses are a disease and those who continue making them will continue to have poor financial health.

8. Get rid of the victim mentality. Stop blaming the economy, your past, your boss, your company, your employees and stop thinking the world is out to get you. Change jobs, charge more, acquire new knowledge and skills, become more valuable. Only when you take responsibility for everything in your life you will be able to change your money mindset and anything else in your life.

The difference between ordinary income and extraordinary income is fast implementation. How quick will you get on your grind to start increasing your income depends entirely on your money mindset?

I am certain that if you take these tips to heart, and start implementing them every day you will create an income explosion the next couple of months. I then you will realize that your finances do not reflect who you are, they show who you were before you made the decision to focus on wealth creation.

Stress Management And State Of Being Mastery

stress management

Stress Management Essentials
I recently listened to an insightful talk called “Mastering your state of being” by Eric Edmeades.
It is about stress management through a powerful concept Eric calls “The Hindsight Window.”

That window is the gap between something WE PERCEIVE as bad happening to us and us changing our perspective on the event, reversing our emotions and gaining an insight from it.

It seems difficult at first. But it becomes easy once you learn Eric’s formula for stress management through total mastery of your mental and emotional state.

Here is how it works.

Foundation
The hindsight window is the passage of time between an event which you perceive to be bad at the time and the time in the future when you can look back and see it as something that was meant to be, as something you are grateful for, you see it as a blessing

For example:
You got fired and you got frightened, angry and upset. But few years later you can look back and say,“That was meant to happen, If it had not happened I would not have achieved ..X.., I would not have become…Y.. and I wouldn’t have … Z…”?

The longer your hindsight window is, the less happy you are.
The shorter your hindsight window is the happier you’ll be.

The more time you spend dwelling on the past and resenting it, the less time you have to experience joy and pleasure in the present and the harder it is going to be to achieve lasting happiness.
The shorter your hindsight window, the faster you can feel good, the more time you will have to enjoy your life and the easier it is going to be for you to develop the habit of staying content.

Here’s Eric’s stress management emotional formula:

Resentment of the past = Fear of the future.
Gratitude
for the past  = Faith in the future.

However much resentment and regret you have about your past, will show up for you as fear of your future.
However much gratitude you have for your past, will show up as faith in your future.

We need to clean up our past so we can look confidently into the future.

But how do we clean our past?

We need to step out of the memory of the event and examine it from the point of view of a bystander and not from the point of view of a participant. This change of perspective and the fact that now we are wiser, more experienced, and have more information and resources will give us the option of assigning a new meaning to the event.

But besides the past, we also have the present and the future.
Which one do you think is the hardest to clean up and which one is the easiest?

When we suspect something is going to be traumatic in the future, we can prepare for it beforehand when our negative emotions are not triggered yet and when Adrenalin is not cursing through our veins.
We can examine our past reactions to similar events, decide on the outcome we desire and come up with a new strategy that is going to give us the desired outcome without the negative emotions the past events have habitually triggered in us.

The hardest to clean up, is the present as in the spur of the moment when the fight or flight response is triggered it is difficult to stay calm, composed and to think rationally. In such cases the physiological responses rule our reactions most of the time

But here is Eric’s stress management algorithm for getting back the control over your thinking, feelings and behavior.
1. An unpleasant event happens
2. Immediately identify the emotion you’re having
3. Decide, if it is serving you. There are moment when our negative emotions are absolutely necessary and appropriate and when they help us survive and deal with the situation in the best possible way.
4. If you decide it isn’t ask yourself; “What emotion would be serving me better?”
5. Then ask yourself, “What would have to happen for me to find gratitude right now?”

Remember – The more gratitude you can find for your past, the more faith you will have in your future.
